The Gideon Hixon fund has developed a thesis in what we call Innovation Affecting Real Estate (IARE). We invest in four broad categories that are driving the evolution of the real estate industry: PropTech, InsurTech, Mobility& Automation, and Travel & Hospitality The Investment Strategy pertains to both Direct Investments as well as Fund Investments.

Recognizing the South's need for lumber after the Civil War, Gideon Cooley Hixon — Senator, entrepreneur, and venture capitalist — built a business in the 1860s that grew to encompass lumber, flour, wool, tanneries, railroads, pulp, paper, electric power, and banking. Read More.

From Crates to Connectors: the AMP Era
Guided by Booz Allen Hamilton founders, the Hixon sons invested in Aircraft Marine Products, whose solderless connector technology thrived through WWII and the computer age before the company — rebranded as AMP — went public in 1965 and was acquired by Tyco in the 1990s for $11 billion. Read More.
